Grid-based Demand Reduction Programs

Industrial Ecology Co LLC represents authorized representatives of several electric grid organizations (ISOs).

They have incentive programs available in their territories which pay companies to be available on two hours notice to reduce electric usage by negotiated amounts on designated equipment. The shut downs can last for 2 hours to perhaps six hours and are called for between June and October. The company gets paid whether or not the grid executes a call for reduction. Minimum requirements vary but the smallest amount appears to be in the 100 kw range, some grids require 200 kw. Payments vary by territory and change yearly.

Some grids offer one time payments for bringing on line Co-Generation units or alternate power facilities.
